Whilst ongoing research continues to astonish scientists, more and more Muslims are relishing new research into the blessed water they have sourced tangible benefit from for centuries.
For decades visitors of the holy land have gone as far as to bathe themselves in Zam-Zam, knowing nothing of its benefits except that it suffices for the intention with which it is used.
According to a report by the Saudi Gazette the well of Zam-Zam is 3.5 meters deep, 17 meters of which are of granite rock.
With the return of the Hajee’s, the gleeful faces of children left behind are noticeable, and as the bag trolleys shove their way through the glass sliding doors, the sizable boxes of Zam-Zam water is as evident as the overhead sign that reads ‘Arrivals’.
Despite the limitation in quantity for those returning from the holy city, no visitor is left to go without having a share in its contents, a side-serving of dates serving as a regular appetiser.
If you’ve just returned from this spiritual journey of a lifetime here are reasons to relish every last drop of Zam-Zam and if not, here’s why you shouldn’t gripe about having to spend your weekend doing ‘the rounds’.
- 1. It’s an inexpensive Doctor.
A Sahabi was reported to have said: ‘We used to call it al-Shabbaa’ah (satisfying) and it helped us to take care our families (i.e., it was filling and helped them to do without food, it was also sufficient to nourish children). (al-Silsilat al-Saheehah li’l-Albaani, 2685).
Medical Aid? For what.
Wahab Ibn Munabbah, who was from the second generation of Muslims, said ‘I swear by Him in whose possession my life is, Allah Ta’ala will relieve the person of all illnesses who drinks Zam-Zam to his fill and will also grant him good health.’
Everything in the life of a Muslim is a test of faith.
There have been records of individuals who have been cured of Cancer via the mere usage of Zam-Zam. However, the level of ‘tawakul’ (faith) of an individual is a determination of its outcome. “And put your trust in Allah, and sufficient is Allah as the dispenser of the affairs.”(Surah:4.Verse:81).
- 2. It’s a meal on its own.
HerbalLife products (and other appetite suppressants) don’t even come close to Zam-Zam.
It was reported in Saheeh Muslim that the Prophet (S.A.W) said to Abu Dharr, who had stayed near the Ka’bah and its coverings for forty days and nights with no food or drink other than (Zamzam): “How long have you been here?”
Abu Dharr said: “I have been here for thirty days and nights.” The Prophet (S.A.W) said, “Who has been feeding you?” He said, “I have had nothing but Zam-Zam water, and I have gotten so fat that I have folds of fat on my stomach. I do not feel any of the tiredness or weakness of hunger and I have not become thin.” The Prophet (S.A.W) said: “Verily, it is blessed, it is food that nourishes.” (Narrated by Imaam Muslim, 2473).
- 3. It is a unique source of natural minerals
A Japanese scientist, Masaru Emoto, in his research found that Zam-Zam contained 2000mg of natural minerals per litre.
The chemical contents were grouped as follows:
Positive Ions such as Sodium (250 mg per liter), Calcium (200 mg per liter), Potassium (20liter), and Magnesium (50mg per litre).
Negative Ions such as Sulfur (372 mg per liter), Bicarbonates (366 mg per liter), Nitrate (273 mg per liter), Phosphat (0.25 mg per liter) and Ammonia (6 mg per liter).
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The best water on the face of the earth is the water of Zamzam; it is a kind of food and a healing from sickness.” (Saheeh al-Jaami’, 3302).
- 4. It ups your energy levels
A German scientist, in a televised interview, spoke on the extensive research that was being done in Munich on water, more specifically, Zam-Zam water. It was noted that the extent of energy contained in Zam-Zam was astonishing when compared to the contents found in ordinary water.
He went on to say that should the water be drunk on a regular basis it would bring about a positive change in our physical and emotional well-being.
- 5. It betters the eye-sight
Carrots are usually recommended for the betterment of one’s eyesight (that, and an optometrist) but Zam-Zam has often been overlooked as a panacea of tremendous benefit.
